There's more to athletes than what they look like

Flagstaff Portrait Photography

I hate being photographed—so I get it.

That’s why portrait photography is my favorite.

I aim to capture the moment when your outside appearance and inner self align.

My sessions are relaxed, guided, and built around who you really are. Whether you're a senior, sibling, parent, or full family crew, I want to give you more than a flattering photo.

I want to give you something that feels true. Because years from now, these photos should remind you who you were becoming.

Let`s Talk

Capturing Who You Are—Not Just What You Look Like

I hate being photographed. Full stop.

That’s probably why portrait photography has become my favorite flavor of photography. Because I get it. I know what it feels like to be uncomfortable in front of a lens, to look at a photo and think, Is that really what I look like? Ugh.

But every once in a while, there’s an image—one where your expression, body language, and energy align with how you see yourself inside. That’s the moment I’m always chasing. That’s what I want to give you.

My Portrait Philosophy

From a young age, I realized that if I was the one holding the camera, I didn’t have to be the one in front of it. And over the years, the more I improved at posing and coaching people, the more relaxed they became—and the more those real expressions started to show up.

That’s the magic I’m after:

The moment where the outside you and the inside you line up.

It’s not just about a flattering photo. It’s about something deeper—an honest snapshot of a person at this time in their life.

Who I Photograph

  • Seniors — expressive, story-driven portraits that go beyond the yearbook
  • Families — relaxed sessions that capture dynamics, not just smiles
  • Environmental portraits — on location, with meaning baked into the setting
  • Action portraits — movement, personality, and sport-specific storytelling

I don’t photograph newborns—that’s its own art form (and not one I’ve pursued). But give me a thoughtful teenager, a goofy sibling, or a proud parent, and I’m all in.

Going Beyond the Surface

If you hire me for portraits, you’re not just getting someone to tell you where to put your hands and smile. You’re getting someone who wants to understand who this person is right now—before the moment slips away.

That’s why every session includes a brief interview. It’s casual, often off-camera, and entirely private unless you say otherwise. But it helps me—and you—capture this moment beyond the visual.

  • What do you want to remember about this chapter?
  • What’s changing?
  • What would future-you want to know about today-you?

Because someday, when you look back on this photo, I want it to mean something more. I want it to remind you of who you were—not just what you looked like.
